Since April of 2004, Woods has served on the staff at the First Baptist Church of West Monroe, Louisiana; he leads the church’s Senior Adult and Pastoral Care Ministries. Prior to that he served as Senior Consultant of Cargill Associates, a leading church fund-raising company.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Watson received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University and the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has also studied at the Torchbearer Bible schools in England (Capernwray) and Sweden (Holsby Brunn).
Dr. Watson has served for 43 years in local church ministry including as an inner-city missionary, a church planter of three churches, and a senior pastor for 15 years.In his spare time, he teaches at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary extension in Monroe and volunteers with the Northeast Louisiana Reentry Coalition, the Freed Men Ministry and the Ministry of Inspirational Therapy. He also likes running, reading, writing, and helping his wife Anita at Northeast Baptist School, where she is principal. He and Anita have six children.
